PRODUCT DETAILS

A black frame is the one that stops competing with your patio. Powder-coated aluminum in flat black reads crisp against charcoal wicker, steel dining sets, composite decking, and black-framed pergolas — and at dusk it just recedes. Nine feet of canopy, 57 square feet of shade, and a vent at the crown so a gust passes through the top instead of shoving against the fabric.

It covers a 48-inch round dining table for four, a pair of lounge chairs, or two chaise lounges. The canopy clears about 6.5 feet at its lowest edge, so nobody ducks on the way to their seat.

The two-way push button tilt is the part you’ll use every day. Press the button on the pole, angle the canopy up to 45 degrees, release. The shade follows the sun west through the afternoon and you never have to drag a 50-pound base across the patio to chase it. A crank lift handles opening and closing, and a 100% Kevlar mesh lift cord means the mechanism holds up season after season instead of fraying out on you in year three.

Push Button, Auto, or Collar Tilt?

Treasure Garden builds the same 9-foot canopy with three different tilt mechanisms, and the one you want depends on how your seating is arranged and how often you’ll adjust it.

  • Push button tilt — what’s on this page. Press the button, tilt up to 45 degrees, release. The most angle of the three and the fastest to operate one-handed. Tilts to either side of center, so it’s ideal when your seating sits on two sides of the table and the sun moves across one of them.
  • Auto tilt — the tilt is built into the crank. Keep cranking past fully open and the canopy tilts; crank back to close it. Nothing to press, which some people prefer, and it holds its angle firmly. See the 9′ Octagon Auto Tilt in black.
  • Collar tilt — twist a collar on the pole and the canopy angles in any direction around it, up to 30 degrees. Less angle than push button, but full directional control, which matters when seating wraps all the way around the table. Treasure Garden’s Starlux Collar Tilt also adds built-in LED rib lighting.

If you came here looking for auto tilt specifically, the link above is the one you want — this umbrella uses a push button, not a crank-driven tilt.

How the Push Button Tilt Works

Crank the handle clockwise until the canopy is fully open. Press and hold the button on the upper pole, tilt the canopy to the angle you want — up to 45 degrees — and release to lock it in place. To close, press the button and return the canopy to upright first, then crank counter-clockwise.

Bringing it back to vertical before you crank down keeps the ribs and the tilt housing from taking load they weren’t built for. Once it’s closed, wrap the canopy with the fabric ties. It takes five seconds and it’s what keeps a gust from catching a loose panel overnight.

Canopy Colors That Work With a Black Frame

Black is the more forgiving of the two frame finishes, which is exactly why it’s worth choosing the canopy deliberately instead of defaulting:

  • High contrast. Naturals, sand, and off-whites read sharp against black and keep the setup feeling light rather than heavy. The most intentional-looking pairing on a modern patio.
  • Monochrome. A charcoal or black canopy on a black frame nearly disappears as a structure. Good choice when the umbrella sits among dark furniture you’d rather it not compete with.
  • Saturated color. Navy, cobalt, and deep greens keep their depth against black where they can go muddy against a warm finish. Pick black if you want the canopy to be the color moment.
  • Stripes. Black handles bold stripe patterns better than warm finishes, because there’s no frame undertone fighting the pattern.

Canopy fabric comes in Grade A and Grade C. Grade A is 100% solution-dyed acrylic — Sunbrella, Outdura, Bella-Dura, Bliss, and Docril — with a five-year warranty against fading. Grade C is O’Bravia, 100% solution-dyed polyester, with a four-year fade warranty. Solution-dyed means the color runs through the fiber rather than sitting on top of it, which is why these hold their color through Kansas summers when a big-box canopy goes chalky in two. Both clean with a garden hose and air dry.

Also Available in Bronze

Same umbrella, warmer frame. If your patio runs to brick, stone, cedar, or traditional furniture, bronze usually sits better than black. See the 9′ Push Button Tilt in bronze.

Wind and Stability

This canopy is vented at the crown, which changes how it behaves on a gusty afternoon. Rather than a gust pushing flat against nine feet of fabric and lifting it, air passes up through the vent and out the top. Less snap, less rocking, less reaching over to steady the pole mid-conversation — and less load traveling into the ribs over the life of the umbrella.

The vent helps. It doesn’t replace base weight. Fifty pounds is the floor for a 9-foot canopy dropped through a table, where the tabletop shares the load. Freestanding, you want more: a 75- or 100-pound base, or 50 pounds plus the 30-pound add-on weight. An underweighted base is the failure point in nearly every umbrella that goes over.

Then two habits. Tilt or close the canopy when the wind really picks up rather than leaving it open and hoping — vented or not, a storm is a storm. And tie the canopy closed anytime you’re not under it, especially overnight and through the off-season. Treasure Garden stocks replacement parts from base pole to finial, so a single bent rib doesn’t mean a new umbrella. Better not to bend it.

Choosing the Right Size

A 9-foot octagon shades a 48-inch round dining table for four, two lounge chairs, or two chaise lounges. Stepping up to a six-person table or a larger seating group means an 11-foot canopy or a rectangular market umbrella.
